Yoga – bridging the gap

Yoga is a science of right living, and it works when integrated in our daily life. We generally think that yoga is a form of exercise that includes stretching and folding of body, but Yoga is much more than just exercise — it is actually a combination of four components:
  • Postures (Asanas)
  • Breathing practices
  • Relaxation techniques and
  • Meditation

What Yoga can do for you?
Yoga can transform your health in many ways. Yoga is a very useful practice which is easy to do and helps in getting rid of certain serious health problems that are common in today’s modern life style. Luckily, you don't have to be an expert to reap the benefits — adding just a few poses to your daily routine can help your health in all kinds of unexpected ways.  Yoga changes your body, starting from the day you begin. To understand what yoga is all about, you need to experience it for yourself.

How to get started with Yoga?
The key to successful yoga therapy is an incremental approach (one step at a time), which tends to be safer and more effective than aggressive strategies.  The idea is to explore your limits, and not strive for perfection. If you force the body, then it is not yoga.  While yoga is a strong medicine, in general it is a slow medicine.
As a beginner, you often equate yoga with some tough, limb-twisting poses.
Sometimes you are concerned that: "I can't even touch my toes; how can I do yoga?" Yoga is not about touching your toes or stretching 98 degrees to your northeast. It is a simple process of uniting with yourself - using your breath, body and mind. And it’s easy and effortless. So, never mind if you're not flexible or stretchable, or are venturing into yoga at the age of 40, or you have a personal problem that is stressing you out - just remove all those myths before beginning your yoga practice. The only one watching you is yourself - so just relax. This journey will bring much joy and relaxation to you!
